Tereos' success comes from its people. Tereos supports and trains its employees in areas such as professional development, the environment, food safety, and the acquisition of the skills and organisational change management techniques serving the Group's growth. All Tereos companies seek to ensure working conditions and benefits that go beyond industry agreements and standards. In addition, Tereos does everything within its power to retain the expertise built up by its staff over the years. With this in mind, the Group has undertaken an ambitious programme of generational succession and transmission of expertise, backed by an increased training budget. Although the average age of staff is falling, reflecting the strength of new recruitment, the employment of older people is one of the core concerns of the Group. The sugar beet processing division in France has introduced an agreement stipulating the recruitment of staff aged over 50 and improvements to working conditions for those aged over 55. In addition, Tereos encourages internal mobility within the Group to promote discussion and the sharing of experiences.

An example: scholarships for Guarani employees
Guarani supports the professional development of its staff by providing a budget every year specifically to help finance university study. In 2008, 214 employees received scholarship payments, for a total budget of more than €380,500. Despite the financial crisis, Guarani maintained its support in 2009, with 184 scholarships awarded, totalling €225,200.
