Tereos produces bioethanol from sugar beet, wheat and sugar cane in France, in the Czech Republic and in Brazil. • Bioethanol in few words Bioethanol is a biofuel directly incorporated into petrol. Product resulting from renewable energy, bioethanol has positive effects for the environment and reduces our energetic dependance.
The EU directives stipulate that bio-fuels shall represent 5.75% of all fuels in 2010 and 10% in 2020, i.e. 19 million cubic meters. | |
There are three uses for bioethanol:
- ETBE is a product resulting from the reaction of ethanol with isobutylene
- The direct incorporation is the most frequent method in the world. It is supported by the french regulation thanks to an incentive system
| 2006 | 2008 | 2010 | 2015
| Incorporation rate (%) | 1,75 | 5,75 | 7 | 10 |
- The E85 superethanol is a new biofuel born in 2006 resulting from a mixing of 85% of bioethanol and 15% of lead-free petrol used in flex fuel vehicules (running either with ethanol, petrol or a mixing of both).
• Bioethanol from sugar beetTereos produces bioethanol from sugar beet in the Origny, Bucy, Morains, Artenay and Lillers facilities.
The Origny alcohol complex comprises a distillery-ethanol refinery with a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters and a set of workshops for the production of traditional alcohols.
• Bioethanol from wheat Tereos produces bioethanol from wheat at Provins (BCE) and in the distillery at Lillebonne.
The facility of BENP Lillebonne processes 800,000 tons of wheat to produce 300,000 cubic meters of bioethanol and 240,000 tons of distiller's grains.
• Bioethanol from sugar cane| Tereos produces 500,000 cubic meters of bioethanol from sugar cane in its five facilities in Brazil: Cruz Alta, Severinia, Tanabi, Andrade and Sao José. |
